Needed to print a bunch of horses for 28mm gaming, but was having trouble finding good scaled ones, and ones with saddles. The "FDM ready split horse" model was good, but I didn't like how the tail printed as a small piece, and I wanted some additional detail.
I added a more textured/thicker mane and tail and a bridle, then used the Saddle from my horse tether post in the Adventurer's Camp to saddle one up for riding. Then I scaled them for 28mm gaming. According to 1/58th scale, these horses are scaled to be just over 16 hands high, which is a nice big thoroughbred size. I then recut to make printing a bit easier.
UPDATE - the more I look at these horses, the more I think they just look small (even though I calculated their scale to match correctly). Some of my reaper figs are 30 or 32mm, so I scaled these up to 110% and they looked better (and were also easier to assemble).
UPDATE 2 - added new "Horse - complete large with Base". Needs supports to print but it's the fastest way to make a bunch of these, and the joint lines were frustrating me trying to remove. The 4 painted ones in the pic are this model printed.
NOTES ON PRINTING/PREP: if you have adhesion issues, a small raft helps well. When assembling, I sometimes broke the horses leg due to the thinness of it. Even with a high infill, there were weak spots. I eventually printed with infill + 3 layers of sidewall and had decent strength. Also before assembly, I used a model file to smooth the flat surfaces that touch.
